I’m writing an ebook and don’t want to get in trouble for “copyright infringement”. How do I avoid it?

Question by Mr. Trump: I’m writing an ebook and don’t want to get in trouble for “copyright infringement”. How do I avoid it?
I plan to write my own ebook on dating and relationships to eventually sell online. Seems like “David Deangelo” have a copyright on dating Advice…I’ve noticed that there are not a lot of ebooks out there on this topic and “Double your Dating” by David Deangelo seems to be everywhere on the Internet.

I’m worried that I might get sued by him for copyright infringement if I make my own ebook. I have never read any of his books or anyone elses, so I have no idea what his techniques are, but if they work they are probably similar to mine.

Should I worry? How do I avoid copyright infringement?

Dating Tips on Writing an Online Dating Profile

If you’re a Christian single thinking about using an online Christian dating service, you better make sure you get your online dating profile right. True, there are a lot of advantages for using an online dating service, but without an attractive online dating profile, it’s unlikelyyou will meet the man or woman of your dreams.

Sadly, while most all the top internet Christian matchmaking services offer free trial memberships where you can set up an online dating profile, few offer dating profile writing tips. The purpose of this article is to give you some confidence and practical steps toward writing a successful dating profile.

Before beginning to write your dating profile, consider what your actual goals are. For most Christian singles, an online dating profile serves as a “resume” used not only to attract interested singles, but most importantly attracting the quality of person you desire in a soulmate.

Considering the following online dating profile tips when writing your own profile will help you find the dating relationship you are seeking.

Start by being honest. Being honest when writing a dating profile means not exaggerating on topics like physical appearance, job or financial staus. As my one friends stated; “His profile stated he was 6’1″, but when we met it was more like meeting a Hobbit.” That’s funny but sad. The lesson here is that writing a truthful dating profile can save you time and embarrassment. Be yourself and remember that you are looking for the person who will accept you for who you are, not for what you think they want you to be.

When describing yourself in your dating profile, freely express your values and interests. This is your opportunity to separate yourself from other dating profiles by telling people not only what you like, but why you like what you do. For example, many profiles state that the person loves the beach, but most don’t expound on what they like about the beach. Writing your dating profile this way makes for much more interesting reading. and lets see part of the real you.

Write to your target audience. What do we mean by that? Write your dating profile as if you were addressing an actual person, that particular soul mate you have been praying about meeting. Writing this way will instill passion in your writing, and save time by weeding out those single people who you would have no interest in dating anyway.

Practice using a sense of humor in your dating profile. Having a sense of humor breaks down barriers and lets those reading your dating profile sense that you are a real and fun person.

Don’t make your dating profile too long, because that can be boring and tedious for a reader. They told me this in seminary, and we can apply this to a dating profile: Always leave them wanting more! Dating profile experts (yes, there are such things) suggest a profile no longer than 250 words. The breakdowen should as follows: 150 words should describe yourself; 100 words or so could describe the mate or spouse you are seeking.

Use a nice photo of yourself in the dating profile. That usually means a close up with not much flesh revealed. Research shows that those folks who include a photo in their profile get 15 times the amount of readers than those who choose not to use them. A couple words of caution here. Do I need to remind you to make it a recent photo? Did you know pics with sunglasses are not cool, but make people think you are hiding something? Okay, I’m done preaching.

Finally, make sure you use a spell checker (I should talk). By using a text editor you can also cut and paste your profile on different sites, saving lots of time and hassle in case you want to modify it.

Writing an Online Dating Profile: Common Pitfalls to Avoid

When writing an online dating profile, there pitfalls that you should avoid as they may well cost you love of your life. Some common pitfalls include:

1. Laundry List:

Yes, complex beings we are, with wide and varied interests. But you don’t need to put each and every one of them in your profile. Four to five activities that mean most to you and are integral to your life suffice.

2. Shopping List:

This is related to 1 above, only that you make a long list of demands that your prospect must have or meet. Some online dating profile lists of demands simply cannot be met by someone from planet earth. Be realistic.

3. Lies:

The biggest complaint about online dating is about all the liars out there. People lie about their marital status, age, profession, income and so on. These lies eventually catch up with them, inflicting deep wounds and even lifetime scars on either or both parties. Be honest.

2. TMI (Too Much Information):

Don’t spill every little detail about yourself in your ad.

First, if you lay everything out on the table right away, you’ll have a hard time finding things to talk about later.

Second, a little mystery in a relationship helps strengthen the interest in both parties. Take your time in finding out more about each other.

3. Bragging:

Nobody likes a show-off. But how, you might ask, do you write positively about yourself without sounding arrogant? Well, be objective as opposed to being subjective. Avoid self-aggrandizing commentaries like, “I look great”, “I am successful”, “I have a great sense of humor”, and so on.

4. Cliches and Other Overused Phrases:

Guess what? Almost everyone enjoys “fine dining” and “long walks on a moonlit beach”. You’re not inviting a response when you list things like this. Using these phrases will make you seem unimaginative, if not outright boring. Put some thought into what you really enjoy doing and list things that make you stand out from the crowd.

5. Loser Words and Phrases:

Avoid using any of the following words or phrases in your personal profile:

a) “I’m tired of being alone” – This paints you as desperate and can set you up for responses by manipulative people.

b) “If you want more info, ask” – The whole response/reply process assumes this. Adding this line indicates laziness on your part to think about the content of your ad.

c) “I’m honest” – Even the most compulsive of liars won’t admit to being one, so there’s really no point in saying this.

d) “I’m no good at these things” – Few people consider themselves particularly gifted in writing personal ads. Like a) above, this reads like unmotivated filler text.

e) “I can’t believe I’m doing this.” Well, guess what, you are! Get real.

6. Shouting:

Typing in all capital letters is not only hard on the eyes, but also annoying to most readers. Also, on the Internet this is considered shouting. DON’T SHOUT! (See what I’m saying?).

7. Sexual Innuendo:

Save the sex talk for later communication, when you and your date become more comfortable with each other. What you intend as a cute remark may inadvertently be taken the wrong way.

8. Berating Former Relationships or Partners:

Almost everybody has gone through a relationship that just didn’t work out (I doubt there’s anybody who hasn’t). Don’t whine about what you didn’t get out of your last relationship. This is not the time or place to vent.

9. Unfamiliar Words:

Don’t try to show off vocabulary you do not have. The easier to read your personal profile is the better. Conversation-style writing that brings out your personality works best.

10. Negativity:

You want to come across positively. Talk about your positive aspects and traits. Leave the negative behind.

There you have ten common pitfalls to avoid when writing an online dating profile. And while you are at it, don’t forget to check your spelling and grammar.

How To Avoid The Most Common Mistakes With Writing

Seamless Integration of Dating Photo & Profile Writing Services into any Dating Website Via New API

{thumbnail}

Perfect Dating Profile Logo

(PRWEB) January 23, 2009

Perfect Dating Profile (PDP) has simplified web integration of its dating photo shoot and profile writing services for dating site owners via a new API. Launched at the start of the company’s second year, the API enables the services to be integrated directly into any site, with the host earning commission for each sale generated. Once installed, users can perform a postcode search of over 250 nationwide dating photographers, place an order for a dating photo shoot or profile writing and make payment entirely on the host site. Completed order data is forwarded to PDP for fulfilment.

The benefits to the host are swift and straightforward set-up, and with no ongoing or installation costs, all revenue gained is pure profit. In addition, better profiles and more attractive photos on a site attracts new members, and for existing members, a more positive online dating experience leads to further referrals, and repeat subscriptions.

Taking full advantage of an unexploited gap in the UK market, the service has found favour with busy professionals who understand the need for a great first impression and perhaps just don’t know how to write a dating profile. After a successful first year, orders for photo shoots are just overtaking those for profiles at a ratio of 4:3, with a proportion opting for a complete overhaul by booking the two as a discounted package. The high numbers of photographers on the system means travel is kept to a minimum whilst still providing a good deal of choice.

The profile customer completes a carefully designed personality questionnaire, and multiple drafts of the work ensure total satisfaction and the development of a writing style that fits the client. Interestingly, around 75% of orders have been signed off to happy customers on delivery of the first draft, a good indication of the quality and popularity of the work.

At last September’s Internet Dating Conference (iDate, London 2008) response was extremely positive, with one of the major white label dating companies keen to add profile improvement services across their whole system, to be available to all partners. They specifically asked for a facility (API) to enable them to integrate the PDP services directly; the advantage of this, they felt, was that by not requiring customers to visit an external site to place a PDP order, the conversion rate would improve greatly.

For more information on the new API and how it can it can facilitate the seamless integration of photo shoot and dating profile writing into dating sites, or to view a demo or download the API documentation, please visit http://www.perfectdatingprofile.com/api.

How To Avoid The Most Common Mistakes With Writing An Online Dating Profile

You didn’t throw your money away when you signed up for your online dating service, but you probably made some serious errors when you built your profile – serious enough that you’re just getting ignored.
Let’s take another look at your profile and fix some of the biggest or most common errors you have probably made:
Mistake #1: Does Your Online Dating Profile Read Like It Was Written by a Caveman for Cavemen?
How does you profile communicate? This is the first step, Bucko. You’ve got to talk in a way a woman appreciates or it’s all downhill from here. Most men are pretty straight forward. They think in terms of facts and truths. “I’m a happy guy.” “I like to have fun.” “I like funny women.”
Sparse sentences come across as, well, sparse. They make no impression. Think about it, a woman doesn’t want a series of little factoids. That’s yawn city. A woman wants to know the spirit, the man wrapped around those facts; not the facts themselves. That’s where a thing called personality comes into play; show it off.
The Fix: When you’re writing your online dating profile, be explicit with little snippets from your life that give her some insight as to how you operate. You’ve got a sensitive side: “I love camping. Once I had a campsite next to a roaring waterfall. There I took refreshing swims and caught plump fish.” Dig? You’ve told her so much more about yourself than, “I like to go camping.”
Mistake #2: Don’t Spoil the Profile with a Spoiled Picture.
Look very critically at your portrait before you post it. Many guys use an old office organization chart picture. Eyes half-closed and tie askew. Please don’t. Even if your eyes are wide and your tie’s neat.
Body parts are are really horrible to put in a photo. You might have some great abs or pecs, but that’s not all you’re about. Is it? She’ll get to see those soon enough. Leave something to the imagination.
The Fix: Don’t settle for any old snapshot – get a nice shot of yourself. You could opt for a professionally done portrait, but that’s not necessary. Use that shot of you fishing on your favorite stream. Or some other activity you’ve described in your profile.
Mistake #3: What’s In a Name?
One of the most important things to consider is figuring a name to match yourself. Don’t do something drab like “Robert1985”. And don’t do pitiful names such as “Searching4U” or “LetsGo4It”.
The Fix: You need something memorable and interesting, just like yourself, such as “Gears&Guitars” if you’re into hot cars and hot rock. An overtly sexual user name is, once again, a little pathetic. But a name that could be taken one of two ways might work. For instance, you could get away with “AnimalLover” if you work at an animal shelter or you just love pets.
Whether you’re starting fresh or revamping your online dating profile, these caveats should help you get the response you’re looking for.
It’s within the realm of possibilities that your profile could get you a first response before you do anything.
