What radiometric dating techniques are used to date human fossils?

Question by Tom: What radiometric dating techniques are used to date human fossils?
I am already aware of Carbon-14 Dating. What are the dating techniques available for dating human fossils that are older than 50,000 years?

Best answer:

Answer by Mark V
Actually, radiocarbon dating is accurate out to about 60,000 years, 75,000 for scientists who really push it (they push it because the C-14 margin of error is very small). Archaeologists consider it good enough to be considered an absolute dating technique due to the a fore mentioned reasonably small margin of error.

Still, the earliest known fossils of modern humans are about 200,000 years old. Hominid fossils, representing ancestral human species, are even older. In the cases of the 200,000 old fossils, potassium-argon radiometric dating is used.

Finally, genetic investigations are used to follow the development of our ancestral hominid species, though this genetic data can be very difficult to come by.

What does “hopeless romantic” mean, as used on dating websites?

Question by Jeff: What does “hopeless romantic” mean, as used on dating websites?
On dating websites, I see a lot of women describe themselves as “hopeless romantic”. What exactly does this mean? Or is that just a euphemism for “desperate”?

Hey!

Typically, “hopeless romantic” means that a woman loves to think about love, mainly her future in a romantic way… who she’ll marry, what her wedding will be like, etc. 🙂

Who has used eharmony;match;dating sites and found a MATCH?

Question by ForeverTheSickest: Who has used eharmony;match;dating sites and found a MATCH?
tell me your stories 🙂 all details appreciated

Answer by Omni Chaotic
From my personal experience every girl on eharmony is overweight. Not to mention that they couldn’t find me any matches so 2 weeks later they said. They had to “alter” my test results to find me matches (my personality type didn’t have any matches apparently lol). Then they sent me 101 photographers and artist. They were ok but no one I wanted to date.

I had did a special promotion and had bought it for a year btw. But turned out useless for me. But I have a very rare personality :(.

On a side note ^_^, made me feel all fuzzy inside it said that 92% of females looked for males with my qualities, but less then 1% of females had the qualities I looked for :(. After I finished the personality test ^_^.

Computer stole my husband
Q. For your readers’ interest: I was married for 18 years to a computer addict. Initially, pre-Internet, there were chat boards; it was new and I joined my husband in the activity. All other hours he played games, but he’d also go out with friends, shopping, family time, etc. But it became more difficult to get him off the computer, and difficult to limit video games, TV, etc. for the kids.
