Psychotherapists are often deeply affected by the therapeutic relationships they form with patients. This book studies the impact of psychotherapeutic practice on the personal life and relationships of the therapist, examining the various personal benefits and hazards which result from conducting psychotherapy. Provides a novel approach to care for the psychotherapist, offering thoughtful, concrete suggestions for the prevention and treatment of various forms of therapist work-related impairment or disability. Avoids stressing one particular theoretical orientation over another while it confronts stereotypes regarding a career in psychotherapy. Topics covered include: the factors leading to the decision to become a psychotherapist; the impact of physical and psychological isolation on the therapist; effects of pyschotherapeutic practice on therapist’s interpersonal relationships; therapist impairment; and therapist burnout. By providing information regarding the incidence, etiology, development, prevention and treatment of work-realted dysfunction, this text assists the therapist in formulating a comprehensive self-care program.

Question by pantiquay: can someone give me personal advice on how to quit smoking?
I really need to quit. I was able to quit for six years, the person I was in a relationship with wanted me to. Now, I am serious about another person who really wants me to quit for my own health. I know I have to do it for myself, so don’t bother with that shtick, its just HOW to do it for myself that is a problem. Any tips, websites, tricks, advice greatly apprieciated!!

Answer by Rose R
If you really want to quit then you can. You have to really put your mind to it and just say NO MORE!!! I quit cold turkey after smoking a pack and a half for over 30 years. The first week is the hardest. But just keep telling yourself you want to be healthy and chew gum, keep your self busy and you will be fine. GOOD LUCK!!!

My boyfriend and I are about to do stuff. Any one with personal advice/tips?

Question by Diana: My boyfriend and I are about to do stuff. Any one with personal advice/tips?
I am truly in love with my boyfriend and we’ve been dating for almost two years now. We’ve agreed not to have sex for a few more years, but he wants to do EVERY other sexual thing there is to do, besides sex itself. I’m more into sex than being eaten out, or give a blow job.. I’m afraid he’ll be grossed out or that I can’t give a good BJ. Does anyone have any advice on this?

Best answer:

Answer by BigRed
Grossed out? I don’t think so!

Advice on giving a bj:

1. Avoid teeth.
2. Don’t take so much in your mouth that you gag..
3. Use your hand on the lower part of his penis.
4. Keep it wet.
5. Swallow.
