Do children from single parents have a harder time?

Question by jeny: Do children from single parents have a harder time?
I have noticed just from a few friends who are single parents(absent fathers) that their children have a harder time, more discipline problems than children from two parent homes. Does anyone else agree with me on this? It seems that having a father in the picture makes a world of a difference in the lives of these children. Is this a valid reason to stay with that person and works through the problems if possible? It would be for me if it a was a known fact that children are well rounded and happier.

it depends on the situation if the father was a good parent and good person but things just ended up not working out between mom and dad then probably yes…but if the father was a drunk abusive to the mom then the children would suffer more for seing that on a regular basis………Majority of people who have children together do try to make things work before calling it quits… but if it doesnt work it is not good for a child to grow up in a house hold where there parents do not respect each other

Effects on children who grow up with homosexual parents or single parent?

Question by Oracion en Orlando: Effects on children who grow up with homosexual parents or single parent?
I am wondering if anyone has a learned, psychological opinion on whether or not children could have problems later on in life if they are adopted into a home where there is either a single parent or homosexual parents.

Does a child require the nurturing of both sexes?

Please, I really just want professional opinions on this, like psycholgists and psychology students.

The child may be more accepting and less likely to be prejudice or homophobic of gay people.

Children to single parents tend to seem more advanced in their learning abilities?

Question by Rosie: Children to single parents tend to seem more advanced in their learning abilities?
I have noticed amongst my family and friends that children who are born to single parents or separated parents have the tendency to be more advanced in the early stages of life as opposed to children being raised by a stay at home mom with the dad at work all day.. Such as learning their ABC, they also seem to learn things faster they socialize better with people.

Is this just an observation in my point of view or has anyone else noticed this?
I don’t have any children so this is why Posted the question?

Best answer:

Answer by Me, myself and I
I believe it’s just an observation in your point of view. Never noticed it. Then again, I don’t really know many single parent families.

Interesting. I think my girls are “advanced” and they are from a two-parent family. I work and they go to daycare.

I really don’t think “advancement” is defined by how many parents one has. There are other factors involved – parenting skills, genetics, environment, etc.

how does society look at single parents that have children out of wedlock?
what are the reasons. is it because there not married?

Best answer:

Answer by Save the Drama….for Your Mama
They look down on them because it goes against society’s idea of “normal and acceptable behavior.” But its becoming more accepted because its becoming more common.

Its also assumed all single moms are on all kinds of federal assistance. Not true.

Why do so many American Women feel it’s okay to just have children by different men and be single?

Question by J: Why do so many American Women feel it’s okay to just have children by different men and be single?
It’s just normal nowadays that American Women are single and have children by different men. Why can’t they get married or be in a committed relationship before they have kids? Why don’t they think about their children’s future? If they can’t do that, then just be alone.

Answer by Brian
I agree 100%. Sadly, the media and America’s pop cultural icons/celebrities make it look cool and hip to have a ton of kids by different men without thinking about the possible consequences and hardships that can result from it.

Although I will also say that men also have a responsibilty as well.

Notice how as this issue situation is growing, kids in public schools are becoming more unruly and crime in our society is increasing.

There’s a good chance I’ll never hurtle down the backroads of Finland at more than 100 mph in a BMW Z4. To be honest, I’d be terrified to cross into triple digits on roads so narrow. But to be able to experience such a feat in a safe environment is divine. Dirt 3 delivers this power, reminding rally nuts what a fun ride this series is…
