Question by : I’m 30, i’m a graphic designer and I am trying to get work in either canada or america, what are my options?
I am a 30 year old single Irish man, I have 2 degrees in Graphic Design, and as Ireland is in a pretty bad state at the moment, next year I am hoping to find work in the US or Canada, preferably in Graphic Design/Web design. I have almost 2 years experience in the printing Industry. I have lived in Canada for a year, but I have an unpaid phone bill, will that effect my chances at getting another visa for Canada or the US? Also will the fact that I am 30 stop me? I have applied for the US green card lottery. Any advice would be much appreciated.
I was in canada on a student visa, and I didn’t overstay, the visa was for one year and I left after 11 months and 2 weeks.

To be brutally honest your chances are about nil.
To migrate to either the USA or Canada you need to be so skilled and experienced that no American or Canadian citizen could fill the vacancy, so about nil chance of a work permit.
At your age it’s to late for a working holiday visa and as an Irish citizen you are excluded from the visa lottery programme, same as UK citizens.
Compared to the other problems an unpaid phone bill is small beer.
Not trying to burst your bubble, just telling you like it is.
