Question by bestgirl4u05: How long would i have to go to school to become a sex/relationship therapist? ?
How hard is it to start your practice? Im not rich and id have to get financial aid to go to school. Would i just be digging myself into a hole with bills? and not even be able to start my own practice by the time im done?

You would have to go 4 years undergrad and a minimum 4 years graduate. Then when that is all said and done you have to do internships to get experienced enough to get a license. I don’t want to discourage you but yeah, it costs a fortune. My mother is paying off student loans and she got he therapist degree 2 years ago. My sister is also is a therapist and she was in business for herself and after a few years she sold the agency and went to work as a college professor of psychology because running your own practice was too stressful for her to deal with. She had constant scrutiny for the board of behavioral health, plus clients causing all sorts of problems. When she tried to go to work for someone else she couldn’t get a job because there were more therapists in this city then there were jobs for all of them. That is just the market where we live. It could be different where you are.
