Entrepreneur Hugh Chappell Invests In Online Dating Start-up Lovestruck.com











Hugh Chappell joins Lovestruck.com

Hugh Chappell, founder and former Managing Director of market-leading publications TrustedReviews.com and bit-tech.net, has invested in London dating site Lovestruck.com and joined the Board of Directors.

Chappell co-founded TrustedReviews.com in 2003 and built the most successful online publication in the sector with 2.5m unique visitors a month (source: ABC Electronic). He subsequently sold the business to Time Warner subsidiary, IPC Media, in 2007.

In October 2008, Chappell also sold his market-leading online publication for computer enthusiasts, bit-tech.net, to Dennis Publishing. At the time of sale, the site was drawing in 1.3 million unique visitors per month.

The Lovestruck.com site already lets people search its database for others that work close by for quick coffee, lunch or after-work drinks. The Lovestruck team is in the process of making dating London singles even easier by capitalising on the latest location-based features of the Apple iPhone and Google’s Android platform.

Hugh Chappell says, “I was particularly impressed with the technological capability and commercial acumen within the Lovestruck team, as well as their vision of where dating is heading. The domain name is also extremely memorable and the business model highly scalable.”

Chappell joins fellow Lovestruck investor Alistair Ramsay, ex-CEO of Dennis Publishing onto the Lovestruck Board. Ramsay was made CEO of Dennis in 1992, a position he held until 2005. Ramsay said of Chappell’s appointment “Bringing someone of Hugh’s calibre and experience onto the Lovestruck team is a real coup. I look forward to us working together in helping to establish Lovestruck as a global brand.”
